V for Vendetta

V for Vendetta is a 2006 dystopian thriller film directed by James McTeigue.. It is an adaptation of the V for Vendetta comic book by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. Natalie Portman stars as Evey, Hugo Weaving plays V, Stephen Rea portrays the detective.

Plot: Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante known only as "V." Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V's mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself - and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.

Iida: Incredible movie, with good actors. Hugo Weaving acts V very well with the mask and Natalie Portman does good job as Evey Hammond.
Plot goes on well and there wasn't dull parts. Maybe the most disturbing part was that they didn't show V's face at all, because I really wanted to see it. I didn't like when some scene stopped very mysteriously, because i'm very curious person.
But kind of it was good thing that they didn't show his face, it would have ruined the mystery of the character.
V for Vendetta is definetly a movie that I want to buy to myself and I could watch it over and over again. It was also very inspiring.

+
plot and mystery

Tuulia:
Brilliant! I didn't first understand every little thing V was saying, because I'm not very smart, but then I figured it out, I think. I'm glad they didn't tell who V was or showed his face, it would have ruined it, because with the mask he was just someone, no one specific.
Hugo Weaving did good job as V, his voice was so perfect for it and I believe it was difficult to play someone with mask because you can't show any facial expressions and still Hugo played V as the most powerful and sensitive person of the movie. I'm not a big fan of Natalie Portman, but I think that she did an amazing job as well.

I liked that movie was dark and there was a lot of stories in one big story. the fighting scenes were shot very well and very dramatic. And in this movie you can see the problems of the world.

+  Idea

Megamind

Megamind is a 2010 American 3D computer-animated superhero action comedy film directed by Tom McGrath. It features the voices of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, David Cross, and Brad Pitt.

Plot: After super-villain Megamind (Ferrell) kills his good-guy nemesis, Metro Man (Pitt), he becomes bored since there is no one left to fight. He creates a new foe, Titan (Hill), who, instead of using his powers for good, sets out to destroy the world, positioning Megamind to save the day for the first time in his life.

Iida: Marvellous movie of blue colored bad guy who is very handsome and charming. It was very inspiring, I want to have same kind of laboratory and minion and I have planned with Tuulia that we would become bad guys and overcome Nakkila and start to rule it . It was nice that the movie was from the bad guys perspective.

When I heard the name of the movie it didn't really interest me first, but I went to see it in the movies and after that I couldn't wait to get to a store to buy it on a DVD. Soundtrack was also very awesome and it fits to the movie. The plot goes on very smoothly and it's very funny.
Even the finnish dub was good.

+
main character
-
too romantic end

Tuulia:
I liked the charisma of Megamind. Voices fitted very well to the characters especially Will Ferrel were good choice for Megamind.

I didn't like that there were romantic stuff too, especially because it was between Megamind and that annyoing woman whose name I can't remember, she was that interesting character. Romance made the movie too soft, it is superhero movie for little kids and I don't think they care for romance so much, at least boys don't. Also Minion was quite boring character.

After all movie was funny, even though plot was the basic stuff about superheroes adn bad guys. Songs in the movie were good like AC/DC - back in black.

+ music, megamind
- romance, other characters maybe little too boring

God Bless America

God Bless America is a 2011 dark comedy film that combines elements of political satire with black humor. The film was written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, and stars Joel Murray and Tara Lynne Barr.

Plot: Frank has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and offs the stupidest, cruelest, and most repellent members of society. He finds an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy, who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement.

Iida: I really enjoyed watching the movie, even though I don't really like movies where people got shot for nothing.  There might have been too much shooting and killing. The movie was very distressing(again) but in a good way!
Before I went to sleep I kept thinking about the movie over and over again in my head, because it was so good.
The movie described very well what kind world we live in, especially how pointless all the reality shows are.

+ shooting

Tuulia:
I liked the idea of the movie. I really understood how the main character felt about certain kind of people and life. Some people might think that all the shooting wasn't really necessary, but that is just how frustrated this world makes some people.
I liked that there was annoying people from MTV and these certain kind of annoying people from real life.
I everybody should watch this movie and I think everyone can understand the message of the movie somehow. I highly recommend this movie to everyone, except little kids of course.

Coraline

Coraline is a 2009 American stop-motion 3D fantasy/horror film based on Neil Gaiman's 2002 novel of the same name.

Plot: When Coraline moves to an old house, she feels bored and neglected by her parents. She finds a hidden door with a bricked up passage. During the night, she crosses the passage and finds a parallel world where everybody has buttons instead of eyes, with caring parents and all her dreams coming true. When the Other Mother invites Coraline to stay in her world forever, the girl refuses and finds that the alternate reality where she is trapped is only a trick to lure her.

Iida:
Too distressing and scary animation. The plot was very good, but when I saw the style of animation I felt distressing and I also felt claustrophobic.
The feeling got stronger to the end. When Coraline traveled to the other reality that feeling started to rise up.
And I started to wonder if she could ever get back home. Her new home in the middle of forest, weird neighbours, dark and rainy weather were scary.

- Distressing, distressing, distressing, distressing...

Tuulia: I really really liked the style of the movie, the plot and idea was good, but I also think that at the end it was scary and stuff. The idea was very interesting, there was scenes and characters that made the movie also very funny.
I think it is a movie that you like or not and I really enjoyed it, there was black humor and kind of a horror movie moments too.

The movies style reminds me somehow of Tim Burton and I actually  though when I was watching the film that Tim Burton was part of making the film but apparently he wasn't.

+ style and idea
- end was very scary

Horrible Bosses

Horrible Bosses is a 2011 black comedy film directed by Seth Gordon. It stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, and Jamie Foxx.

Plot: Nick hates his boss, mostly because he's expected to work from before sunrise to after sunset and his boss, Mr. Harken, calls him out for being a minute late and blackmails him so he can't quit. Dale hates his boss, Dr. Julia Harris, because she makes unwelcome sexual advances when he's about to get married. But Dale is on that pesky list of child offenders so he can't quit. Kurt actually likes his job and his boss, well, up until his boss dies and the boss's coked-out, psychopathic son takes over. But who would be crazy enough to quit their jobs in such poor economic times? Instead Nick, Dale and Kurt drunkenly and hypothetically discuss how to kill their bosses, and before they know it, they've hired a murder consultant to help them pull off the three deeds.

Iida: Very distressing for being a comedy movie. I don´t like movies where bunch of guys screw things up, even the most simple things. There was too much distressing moments for a person like me who distresses easily. There was funny moments, but not enough.
The bosses were too annoying so its started to annoy myself. Main character were annoying too.

+ Nothing good
- Everything

Tuulia:
I didn't like the movie. Main characters were too stupid and everytime they did something wrong or
when they sneaked into a house I felt very distressed and it's not a good feeling. Movie wasn't that funny and I can't even remember anything from it anymore, because I wasn't even paying attention to it in the end anymore. There was few funny moments but it didn't save the movie. I really don't know what else to say about it, it just wasn't that funny.

+ some good moments

- too much clumsiness

Pulp Fiction

Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American crime film directed by Quentin Tarantino. John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman were nominated for Academy Award. Other roles were acted by Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, Amanda Plummer, Ving Rhames and Quentin Tarantino  played small role in the movie.

Plot:Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield are two hitmen on the hunt for a briefcase whose contents were stolen from their boss, Marsellus Wallace. They run into a few unexpected detours along the road. Marsellus is out of town, and he's gotten Vincent to take care of his wife, Mia. That is, take her out for a night on the town. Things go smoothly until one of them makes a huge error. Butch Coolidge is a boxer who's been approached by Marsellus and been told to throw his latest fight. When Butch ends up killing the other boxer, he must escape Marsellus. Pumpkin and Honey Bunny (not their real names) are two lovebirds/thieves who have decided to rob the restaurant they're currently eating at. But the restaurant doesn't turn out to be as easy as the other places they've robbed.

Iida: The movie was amazing. Actors were choosed very well for the roles. And Quentin Tarantino did great job making the movie. At some point movie was very confusing and there was scenes that i didn´t get. I would definitely watch it again and even buy it.
I was very sad when John Travoltas character died, I though that he wouldn´t be in the movie anymore after that, but he was on scenes that has happened before his death.

+ John Travolta
- Too confusing

Tuulia: Movie was brilliant and it was definitely made by Tarantino, it was so strange in a good way. Samuel L. Jackson did amazing jod as Jules and everyone who has seen the movie knows it, especially that one scene where he fights with that one guy about
Marsellus Wallace
and then Jules and Vincent end up shooting that guy.

In the middle of all the violence and drugs there was a lot of good humor and I felt very energetic after watching it. Everything was good, the actors and the plot. It was very entertaining to watch.
Even though at times Iida's talk about John Travolta was very distracting, but she was very excited about him.

+ very odd movie (in a good way)
-  I also think it was little confusing but in the end it wasn't anymore
