Coraline

Coraline is a 2009 American stop-motion 3D fantasy/horror film based on Neil Gaiman's 2002 novel of the same name.

Plot: When Coraline moves to an old house, she feels bored and neglected by her parents. She finds a hidden door with a bricked up passage. During the night, she crosses the passage and finds a parallel world where everybody has buttons instead of eyes, with caring parents and all her dreams coming true. When the Other Mother invites Coraline to stay in her world forever, the girl refuses and finds that the alternate reality where she is trapped is only a trick to lure her.

Iida:
Too distressing and scary animation. The plot was very good, but when I saw the style of animation I felt distressing and I also felt claustrophobic.
The feeling got stronger to the end. When Coraline traveled to the other reality that feeling started to rise up.
And I started to wonder if she could ever get back home. Her new home in the middle of forest, weird neighbours, dark and rainy weather were scary.

- Distressing, distressing, distressing, distressing...

Tuulia: I really really liked the style of the movie, the plot and idea was good, but I also think that at the end it was scary and stuff. The idea was very interesting, there was scenes and characters that made the movie also very funny.
I think it is a movie that you like or not and I really enjoyed it, there was black humor and kind of a horror movie moments too.

The movies style reminds me somehow of Tim Burton and I actually  though when I was watching the film that Tim Burton was part of making the film but apparently he wasn't.

+ style and idea
- end was very scary
